Executive Protection Systems invited to evaluate Virginia’s largest WMD, disaster preparedness drill “Operation Furies.”

Alexandria, Virginia (February 8th, 2003)—Just one day after the nation raised it’s terror alert Northern Virginia held its largest ever Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) disaster preparedness drill. Executive Protection Systems (EPS) of Winchester, Virginia the only private firm in attendance was there on location to help the U.S. Attorney’s office evaluate their plans and procedures and provide a report on the effectiveness of current training.

With over 400 participants from city, state and federal departments, organizers believe this was one of the largest exercises conducted on the east coast in recent memory. Many of the participants in the drill had to wear escape masks that were provided by Executive Protection Systems. The mask called the Quick2000 provides wearers over an hour of protection against chemical, biological and radiological weapons. Particpants in the drill donned the mask and practiced evacuating a building that had been under attack by a deadly hydrogen cyanide gas. Participants were moved out of the building by police emergency reponse teams to a decontamination point located away from the building.
