Butler Segues into Emergency Management as Sales Manager for Executive Protection Systems (EPS)
Winchester, VA (March 25, 2004)—For EPS’ Mike Butler, his new position is all about outfitting organizations and Emergency Management Service (EMS) outlets with Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and industrial safety preparedness equipment that will save lives.
Butler, a city councilman for over two years, recently joined Executive Protection Systems (EPS) as their sales manager. “With my 28 years of experience in the emergency management services field and as an elected official, I’m extremely aware of the tremendous need for preparedness against any type of threat or crisis,” said Butler. “I understand the wide range of activities, equipment and training needs that are vital to fire rescue and law enforcement. And that’s why EPS appealed to me. They’re a home-grown company that has the expertise and tools to ensure safety.”
Butler’s role with EPS will be to organize and coordinate the sales function of the business. “We’re looking to streamline and become the access point of safety and emergency rescue supplies and equipment for private, public and federal agencies,” said Butler. “Personally, I think the best selling point of EPS is that we don’t just sell to companies and individuals, we provide the training and education needed to use the gear effectively.”
“We’re thrilled to have Mike as part of our team,“ said Darla Guevremont, vice president of sales and marketing for EPS. “His experience made him a natural fit for us. He knows our product and he certainly knows our target audience—first-hand. It’s rare that you find someone of his caliber and grassroots knowledge of emergency management.”
According to Butler, emergency management preparedness is like investing in an insurance plan. “You know you need it and should have it. You hope you never have to use it, but it provides you with the security that you’ll be protected when a crisis occurs,” he added.
Butler is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University of Virginia and holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies.
Butler began his career in EMS as a firefighter and cardiac technician for the city of Newport News, Virginia. He also previously held two positions concurrently as the Director of the Lord Fairfax EMS Council and Director of the Virginia Federation of EMS Councils. Prior to joining EPS, Butler was a regional medical sales representative with Roche Laboratories. In addition to being a Winchester city councilman representing the First Ward, he is currently an active member of the city council committee on Health, Education and Welfare and is involved with the Winchester Parks and Recreation Department where he coaches the youth basketball girls’ league for ages 11-13.
The Winchester resident and his wife Carrie, have two daughters: Kaitlin and Meredith.
